Since TSGH was relocated to its current geographic location of Neihu Campus, the number of patients seeking care in this one and only military medical center has grown substantially over the past 20 years, with parking space reaching its full capacity in recent years. The COVID-19 epidemic situation since early 2020 has posed additional challenges and restrictions for patients seeking care in TSGH as incoming and outgoing patients and visitors were subject to certain degrees of movement control for epidemic control purposes. In order to create a convenient, friendly, and easy to access healthcare environment for patients seeking care in TSGH while significantly reduce hospital visitors’ risk to contract the COVID-19 virus, TSGH starting from April 30th 2021 launched its “S&C Pharmacy” or Smart and Convenient drive-through medications refill service. By using the “S&C Pharmacy” service, patients or visitors no longer need to queue for a hard-to-find parking space, nor do they need to physically enter the main medical building in order to have their medications refilled, significantly boosting convenience of medical refill on the one hand while reducing risk of contracting COVID-19 virus by avoiding unnecessary in-hospital visits. The launching of TSGH’s “S&C Pharmacy” service, when its utilization gradually picking up” will also significantly reducing patients’ waiting time for the prescribed medications or refilled medications, bringing additional benefits to patients and visitors.

TSGH’s “S&C Pharmacy” is adjacent to Art Gallery located at the West Wing Hallway on the second floor of TSGH’s main medical building. Two pharmacy service counters are established under the “S&C Pharmacy” service, one counter cater to the need of in-hospital visitors while the other counter provide medication refill service to drive-through visitors. As the S&C Pharmacy is right next to TSGH’s Art Gallery, patients coming to S&C Pharmacy’s service counter will be immediately exposed to a strong atmosphere of art and literature while there, allowing them to relax and a peace of mind while in-hospital. The drive-through pharmacy service counter functions similar to MacDonald’s drive-through lane in design and service, allowing patients and visitors convenient, speedy, and virtually contactless medication pickup and refill services.

In the future patients who wish to use TSGH’s S&C Pharmacy service may make their medication refill appointment via either Chronic Illness Medications Refill Webpage or Patient Friendly App of TSGH. Patients need to register their medication refill appointment at least 10 days before their scheduled medication pickup day (Only Medications Covered by the NHIA program can be refilled via the S&C Pharmacy service.). When making their medications refill appointment, patients may choose to pick up their refilled medications either in the in-hospital pharmacy service counter or the out-of-hospital drive-through counter by following traffic sign of S&C drive-through lane.
