Aimed at encouraging industries, government agencies, and academic institutions to collaborate and continue their innovation and R&D projects and programs and highlight innovators’ capability to improvise and improve during contingencies such as the global Covid-19 pandemic, the 18th National Innovation Award Ceremony was sponsored by the Research Center for Biotechnology and Medicine Policy (RBMP) on December 17th, 2021 to celebrate and honor achievements made by innovative project teams across Taiwan. By integrating expertise across various medical departments, pushing forward medical technologies upgrades and improvements, and fostering innovation project patents and industry-academic collaboration, TSGH medical teams were awarded 4 “National Innovation Awards” and 12 “National Innovation Award Renewals” bestowed by Research Center for Biotechnology and Medicine Policy (RBMP) in the 18th National Innovation Award Ceremony. TSGH winning teams led by Major General WANG, Superintendent of TSGH were invited by organizing committee to receive their awards and honors during the awarding ceremony.

Dr. Chih, Hong, WANG, TSGH Superintendent remarked during interview that TSGH medical teams have initiated their medical innovation projects by means of cross-discipline cooperation and collaboration for many years. Dr. WANG further stated that synergistic effects by cross-discipline TSGH medical teams have been achieved and realized by the fact that 4 projects of “Innovative 3D Brain Surgery Training Simulation System”, “Human Galactose-deficient IgA1 and Mouse IgG Monoclonal Antibodies as Rapid, Non-invasive, Early Diagnostic Reagents for IgA Nephropathy”, “Multifunctional Auxiliary Device for Changing Position, Displacement, and Rescue”, and “Waste Collection and Disposal System” by Departments of Neurosurgery, Pathology, and Nursing have won National Innovation Award and 12 TSGH projects, including the innovation project of “The Development of Microbubbles-based Medical Combination Products Combined with Ultrasound for Treating Ear Diseases and Head and Neck Cancers” by Otolaryngology Department were bestowed “National Innovation Award-Renewal”. Superintendent WANG stressed that in the future, TSGH medical teams will continue their innovation spirit and medical R&D projects by pooling together resources, talents, and expertise from across all departments and sectors to ensure that positive impacts achieved by Taiwan healthcare industries will be seen, felt, and recognized by the global healthcare communities.
