          The Division of of Infectious Diseases & Tropical Medicine was established in 1949. The medical and paramedical personnels in the division are well-trained and experienced, and the equipment is state-of-the-art.

        Physicians in this division specialize in fever, sepsis and infectious diseases, including pneumonia, genitourinary tract infection, meningitis, endocarditis, cellulitis, bone and joint infection, sexually-transmitted diseases and blood-borne infection. We offer inpatient, outpatient and consultation services. We are also responsible for the control of nosocomial infection and antibiotic use.


@ Education:

        We provide courses for undergraduate, graduated students and professional training courses for interns, residents and specialist doctors.

 

@ Research:

(A) The division collects data on each kind of pathogenic bacteria and their antimicrobial resistance, e.g.: Klebsiella pneumoniae liver abscess and 

Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia.

(B) The serotypes of Klebsiella pneumoniae and the interaction with the phagocyte in diabetes mellitus.

(C) The diagnosis and research of Legionnaire's disease.

(D) The managements and research of infections caused by multi-drug resistant bacteria.

(E) Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).
