This institute moved to Taiwan from Shanghai in 1949, and cooperated with pathology department of the First General Hospital of the Army, Navy & Air Force at that time. The GeneralHospital was reorganized to be “ 801” General Hospital in 1959 and the clinical laboratory was formally established in the same time. And then it was changed into the Division of Clinical Pathology in 1981. It was the first hospital of our country with the complete training program for specialized physician of clinical pathology.
Division of Clinical Pathology is responsible for providing the laboratory data of disease transformation. There are two kinds of persons, clinical pathologists and medical technologists, to achieve the above mission. A good training system can provide them to combine the theoretical knowledge with technical operations. In order to meet the goal for good patient care and promoting examination skill levels, additional laboratory administration training is also provided.
We are the original organization of the training program for specialized physician of clinical pathology of National Health Administration. We play an important role in laboratory medicine in our country. We have different sections including Biochemistry, Microbiology, Neihu OPD & ER Lab, Virology, Serology, Molecular Diagnostics, Specimen Reception, Blood Bank, Toxicology, and Ting Chow OPD & ER Lab. Totally, we offer more than 200 different tests.
Under the leadership of professor Jang-Jih Lu, the team including 2 outstanding clinical pathologists and many professional medical technologists, provides rapid and correct medical usefulness laboratory data and clinical consultation by performing high quality, modern, and first-class rapid automatic instruments with comprehensive computerized laboratory information processes under strict quality control system. We have the honor to get the ISO15189 medical science laboratory certification of Chinese National Laboratory Accreditation (CNLA) in June of 2004 and Laboratory Acrreditation Certfication of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) in the December of 2005.
