At the critical juncture led by novel “cellular therapy” in shaping future therapeutic development for cancer care and other complex medical conditions, Tri-Service General Hospital (TSGH) officially established and launched its cutting-edge “Cellular Therapy Center” via a grand opening and unveiling ceremony on December 14th, 2018. The unveiling ceremony was presided over by lieutenant general Chen, Surgeon General of Defense and Director General of Medical Affairs Bureau, Ministry of National Defense, and was witnessed by Dr. Chung-Liang Shih, Director General, Dept. of Medical Affairs, Ministry of Health and Welfare and Dr. Yao-Chang Chen, President of Taiwan Association for Cellular Therapy, among other dignitaries and senior leaders in Taiwan’s medical community. The unveiling ceremony of TSGH’s “Cellular Therapy Center” has officially established the very first center of excellence specializing in immunotherapy, precision medicine, and individualized medical therapy that offers the healthcare of the highest quality to cancer patients and those with complex medical conditions. The founding and operations of TSGH’s “Cellular Therapy Center” will no doubt greatly benefit patients and their families by offering alternative options and a glimmer of hope in treating and healing patients’ medical conditions.

TSGH’s “Cellular Therapy Center” is a cross-disciple center of excellence for patient care and clinical research, staffed by medical specialists from diverse medical departments of TSGH such as division of hematology & oncology and department of plastic surgery. By adopting a rigorous screening process, TSGH’s “Cellular Therapy Center” partners with leading research labs accredited or certified both by ISO standards and Good tissue practice (GTP) and comply with all relevant rules and regulations specified in “Regulations Governing the Application of Specific Medical Examination Technique and Medical Device” drafted and published by MOHW. In compliance with relevant rules and regulations related to cellular therapy of the abovementioned draft MOHW Regulations, Cellular Therapy Center of TSGH will initially focus its treatment and research effort on isolation and culture of autologous fibroblast, mesenchymal stem cell, and adipose derived stem cell which hold great potential in treating conditions of difficult wounds/non-healing wounds, soft tissue defects, and articular cartilage degeneration treatment. Patients seeking cellular therapy will then receive high quality healthcare in the center to treat their respective medical conditions.
