Represented by Major General TSAI, Superintendent of Tri-Service General Hospital (TSGH) and Colonel Nian-Zi, DAI, Director of Plastic Surgery Department, TSGH signed a cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kinetic Concepts Inc. (KCI), represented by Ms. Eileen Yi, KCI’s General Manager for greater China and Southeast Asia Regions and Mr. You-Lai YUAN, Chairman of Progressive Group Inc. (PGI)-general and exclusive sales agent for KCI in Taiwan on July 24th, 2019. After the MOU signing ceremony, TSGH and KCI also jointly established the “Asia Pacific Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Center-APNPWTC” in the Taipei-based military medical center, the first and only negative pressure wound treatment and research center in Taiwan.

Kinetic Concepts Inc. (KCI), a subsidiary of Acelity L.P. Inc., is a global leader in wound care and management solutions. KCI’s investment into research and development has yielded many leading brands as well as an extensive patent portfolio. KCI is committed to leveraging its size, scale and expertise to drive rapid development of leading and new wound care technologies. KCI holds over 2,700 patents and continue to increase that number by about 100 every year. KCI pioneered negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) and has been a leader in this category. By partnering with TSGH in establishing the “Asia Pacific Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Center-APNPWTC”, the joint cooperation initiative aims to become a central hub of comprehensive wound care and management and center of excellence for wound therapy research. Going forward, international cooperation and industrial partnership programs will be incubated and expanded from Taiwan to be further extended to other countries and regions in Asia in the future. Missions of the Asia Pacific Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Center include: 1) improving wound care quality via close cooperation and partnership, 2) facilitating medical cooperation initiatives on wound care and research in Asia Pacific region, and 3) promoting education, training, and best practices development for wound care and management. Through the APNPWTC program, Tri-Service General Hospital aims to become the center of excellence of wound care, management, and research in the Asia Pacific region, to the benefits of patients, healthcare professionals, and the broader communities and societies TSGH serves.
