The 32nd Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020) was scheduled to take place from July 23rd to Aug. 8th of 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. Taiwan has sent a 176-member Olympic Games delegation (among them, 66 athletes) to participate in the once-in-four-years global athletic event, even though global and regional covid-19 pandemic situation was still very challenging.

 

Per regulations stipulated by the Japanese Olympic Committee, all delegation members (athletes and staffs) must undergo two Covid-19 PCR screenings 96 hours before departing from Taiwan to ensure health and safety of Taiwan delegation as well as delegations from other countries. Tri-Service General Hospital (TSGH) was honored to have been chosen as the designated hospital to provide Covid-19 PCR screening services for Taiwan’s Olympic Game Delegation and provided the required 2 Covid-19 PCR screenings for all delegation members from July 11th to July 28th 2021.

 

Mr. Hong-Dow Lin, Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee Chair, personally led a 50-member Olympic delegation to receive Covid-19 PCR screening in TSGH on July 16th, 2021, with Dr. Chih-Hung, WANG, Superintendent of TSGH receiving the Olympic delegation in person. Together with medical staffs and Olympic delegation members, Dr. Chih-Hung, WANG welcomed and cheered for Taiwan’s Olympic Game team.
