The Medical Affairs Bureau, Ministry of National Defense, conducted a press conference, "The new future of medical technology under collaboration of Tri-Service General Hospital and the Microsoft Taiwan Development Center", on 22 September 2023 at TSGH in Neihu District. They announced a collaboration with the Microsoft Taiwan Development Center to facilitate the "analytical platform of medical big data training" project, for which Tri-Service General Hospital and Microsoft shall apply AI techniques to improve the accuracy of text reports and to generate Chinese-English nursing records and professional English imaging reports automatically to save report production time. This initiative will be promoted by the TSGH medical information technology team to 13 armed forces hospitals nationwide for use in nursing records, OPD, ward rounds, and operation records to speed up the development of smart and precision medicine, as well as the medical decision process and quality of patient care.
Tri-Service General Hospital is a major medical teaching hospital with more than two million patient visits for OPD and IPD services. The workload of medical staff is huge. Superintendent Yi-Jen Hung pointed out, "By way of this study, we can save nurses' and radiologists' time in writing records and preparing imaging reports in Tri-Service General Hospital, and also produce more accurate diagnostic suggestions to support medical staff so they can focus on caring for patients more and allow physicians to provide more effective treatment regimens, not only improving medical quality but also elevating patient satisfaction."
